In preventing the spread of coronavirus we are familiar now with the importance of washing our hands regularly and social distancing but how many of us have increased our cleaning regime?
Coronavirus can live on hard surfaces for 36 hours to 96 hours depending on the surface so it is important that whether it be at home or at work hard surfaces are kept clean and disinfected regularly especially ‘high touch’ items some of which you might not have thought of.
Here’s our list of ‘High Touch’ areas to consider:-
- Light switches and movable lamps
- Entry systems / alarms
- Doors (both sides)
- Door locks, handles and knobs
- Desks, tables and countertops
- Phones and smartphones
- Keyboards, mouse, laptops and tablets
- Toilets, sinks and faucets
- Kitchen appliances e.g. kettle toaster, fridge
- Remote controls
It is our recommendation that in addition to cleaning these surfaces at least once per week, these surfaces are disinfected on a daily basis and throughout the day if used by multiple people.
We also recommend the use of disposable gloves when using disinfectant and to ensure that the area you are working in is well ventilated.
The figures released from the government on a daily basis show that there is a downward trend in the number of coronavirus cases but we still need to be sensible and take extra precautions if we do not want that to change.
Make yourself a daily checklist or make sure your cleaning company has a checklist to ensure areas are not being missed.
