As a commercial cleaning company whose one area of expertise is cleaning at height it is imperative that we take precautions to reduce the risk of slips, trips and falls and prevent causing personal injury to our operatives or to others.
Working at height can mean working on a ladder or flat roof, using abseil equipment or mobile elevated platforms and the risk of falling through a fragile surface or falling to the ground is high if the correct procedures are not followed.
We ensure that all our work is planned, supervised and carried out by a competent person, that risk assessments are carried out and method statements are implemented in line with the Health and Safety Work Act, the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations and the Work at Height Regulations 2005. We are also SafeContractor Approved and a Member of the Federation of Window Cleaners.
Our cleaners often work outside and outside normal working hours so it is even more important that we take precautions to prevent injuries occurring.
We also take into consideration weather conditions, surface conditions and access to the location in which we are to work and where possible use telescopic water-fed poles to reduce the risks.
All of our equipment is regularly inspected and well maintained and PPE (personal protective equipment) is provided and is fit for use. All of these checks are documented and we recommend that you should ask to see records of these should you be considering a new contractor who will be required to work at height.
